IP Controller
Each IP Controller secures a single door and can be configured to support upto 60,000 biometric templates or Wiegand protocol readers for up to 200,000 users. The controller's fully configurable inputs and outputs support standard peripheral access point devices like electric or magnetic strikes, buzzers, request-to-exit buttons (REX), motion detectors, door open sensors, relays, and tamper switches. In addition, each IP Controller includes several auxiliary supervised and unsupervised inputs for additional devices.
IP Controllers also support a variety of advanced access functions. Because each IP Controller's firmware is field-upgradeable over the network, new and custom access functions can be added over time. Power failures and network outages do occur, so each IP Controller is equipped with its own backup power supply and memory so that each access point can be controlled without interruption. Once power or network connections are restored, each IP Controller sends a full activity log to the ReachNet server, preventing any loss of access activity data during the outage. With distributed IP Controllers securing each access point, there are no single points of failure which could disable the entire system. A fire in the closet housing a traditional access control system can disable the system throughout an entire floor or building, but with Reach's IP Controllers, any failure is local. Installation Installation and set-up are easier and less expensive than traditional access systems because IP Controllers can be installed close to each access point. Controllers can be installed in the wall/ceiling adjacent to each door or in a server closet. Since IP Controllers use TCP/IP communications, they can be networked by connecting to the nearest network hub. If configured for WiFi, no network cabling is required at all. In addition, there is no on-site server or software to install, reducing labor costs during installation and lowering the total price of system ownership. ![]()
